Founded in August 1997 by Cathy Awad, Fancy Cats now has three PetSmart Adoption Centers, an adoption center at Chico's Pet Depot and 100+ volunteers. The Fancy Cats Rescue Team is a passionate leader in the animal rescue community with over 20 years experience. GETTING STARTED: A Home Visit is required by State Law. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who isn't sure if they are ready to own a pet and wants to gain some experience before adopting. New foster homes will be given an introduction to fostering training and have support from current homes for questions. Foster homes are also required to transport their foster cats to and from adoptions for showing, usually around once or twice per month. The foster program also helps FCRT learn more about an individual cat's habits and personality to better help find that perfect forever home! FCRT assumes costs of medically necessary vet visits and treatment, and the foster home provides food and litter. A cat can benefit from socializing with a family. Typically, this period gives the cats a break from their time in a cage at the adoption center, often a much needed change of scene! Also new intakes: young kittens with or without their mother, ill cats, or cats recuperating from surgery need foster homes. FOSTER HOMES NEEDED We need volunteers who are able to take Fancy Cats Rescue cats into their homes for a period of 30 days or longer.
